Evercor

Local Company Steps up to the Plate with $100,000 Pledge to Youth Sports Programs

Local Company Steps up to the Plate with $100,000 Pledge to Youth Sports Programs 2560 1536 #OnTheStacks

Evercor Facility Management, a full service facility maintenance firm based in Wyoming, PA, is teaming up with its subsidiaries, Turfcor Lawn and Tree Care and Procor Pest Control, pledging $100,000 in grant money to benefit local youth sports programs.

Like many organizations that took a financial hit during the shutdown of 2020, so did local youth sports programs.

Grant funds will be awarded to qualifying applicants that need assistance upgrading infrastructure, improving safety, renovating existing athletic fields, or any other project that could benefit young athletes.

Evercor

“We had the opportunity to partner with Leadership Wilkes-Barre to revitalize the Challengers baseball field. After talking to parents, players, and other members of the organization it became very clear the struggles that they all faced, a big one being fundraising,” said Bryan Yaworski, Vice President of Operations at Evercor.

Evercor has been a longtime supporter of local athletics, and has years of experience renovating sports complexes.

“Being able to see the look on the players and their families’ faces on opening day was one of the proudest moments of my personal and professional life. I cannot wait to see what we will be able to accomplish with the Evercor Foundation,” Yaworski added.

In 2019 the company donated labor, materials, and equipment in order to renovate the home field of the Wyoming Valley Challenger Little League, an adaptive baseball program for players with physical and mental challenges.

The Challenger project is what inspired the Evercor community outreach committee to create the Play Uninterrupted grant program.

The grant money will be available to any qualifying athletic organization located within the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Breinigsville, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, Lancaster and surrounding areas.

I also had the opportunity to catch up with Evercor President, Patrick Kane, who added, “Our goal now is to help other sports organizations rebuild their infrastructure following the pandemic, so kids in our community can get back to playing the sports they love.”

This is a no match grant, which will allow organizations to avoid contributing any funds towards their requested project.

The deadline for application is June 30th, 2021.

To Play Uninterrupted, apply now at Evercor.com.

Who’s Who?! Meet the Expanded #OnTheStacks Team!

Alright so after we shared a bunch of ridiculous big head videos on social media over the last few weeks, everyone has been asking, who are these guys and what are we up to?

While we can’t reveal all of our secrets, we can tell you that we plan to create the most engaging online content through this written blog, social media, and of course, the #OnTheStacks Podcast.

Do you have a topic, event, breaking news, or something newsworthy that you think we should cover?

If so, get in touch with us at letstalk@onthestacks.com

In the meantime, here’s a little intro of everyone so you know, who’s who…

Darren Elias – The Photographer

Darren Elias

Darren, the #OnTheStacks man behind the camera, is a portrait, headshot, and landscape photographer from the Back Mountain where he owns and runs Darren Elias Photography.

Photographing guests sitting atop stacks of paper every week pushes him in a whimsical corner of creativity where he crafts ways to make everyone’s time on the stacks feel unique and fun….sometimes, unapologetically, at Bill’s expense.

When not working or relaxing with camera in hand, he is an avid lover of movies, hiking, traveling, spending time with his wife Heather, and driving his daughter insane by just being a dad.

You can see more of Darren’s non-stacks photography work at www.darrenelias.com, or on Facebook and Instagram.

Ryan Garvey – The Hype Man

Ryan Garvey

Ryan Garvey

Hailing from Nanticoke, Ryan is a proud Northeast Pennsylvania (NEPA) native.

Excited to be part of the #OnTheStacks team, Ryan brings his big personality and charisma to table.

His goal is to deliver valuable content while showcasing and supporting the hard working millennial generation and small businesses of the “valley.”

Residing in the countryside, he enjoys everything outdoors and takes pride in his trade knowledge. An avid traveler and food junkie, he’s thrilled to introduce the #OnTheStacks readers to the vast taste of NEPA, along with many quality breweries along the way.

Ryan is the owner of Quality Overhead Doors, a garage door service and installation company that has been in business for over 30 years. He is also the Founder and Owner of Quality Custom Awnings.

You can check out Ryan’s garage door and awning business at www.qualityoverhead570.com or on Facebook and Instagram.

Nate Snedden AKA Nate Fashion

Nate Snedden

Nate Snedden

Nate has a love for fashion, health, fitness, adventure and people. He believes that clothes have the power to act as an extension of self-expression and self-confidence.

He is excited to help any #OnTheStacks reader discover new places, brands, and even ideas that can be incorporated into their everyday life.

You can connect with Nate on Instagram or LinkedIn.

Anthony Bartoli – The Mayor

Anthony Bartoli

Anthony Bartoli

Raised in Mountaintop, Anthony loves everything about NEPA (especially #OnTheStacks).

The people, the food, and the sense of community that’s found here, in his opinion, is unmatched anywhere else in the world.

Since he was 4-years-old, Anthony only ever wanted to be one thing – President of the United States.

At Coughlin High School, Anthony was always referred to as “The Mayor” because he loved talking to people just slightly more than sitting in class.

After college, Anthony wanted to begin his political career and ran for Luzerne County Council. Though unsuccessful, Anthony has remained an active participant in the NEPA political scene.

He is excited to bring an unbiased look at civic leaders in NEPA and hopes that through his work, people will not only learn more about the levels of government that serve them, but also the really awesome people we have representing our corner of the world.

You can call him many things, but don’t call him Tony.

You can find Anthony on Twitter and Instagram.

Bill Corcoran Jr. – The Founder and Podcast Host

Bill Corcoran Jr.

He is the host of the #OnTheStacks Podcast that many of you already know.

Bill is passionate about writing, branding, marketing, and most importantly, people.

He is an expert in printing and packaging and when he’s not #OnTheStacks or leading the sales charge at his family’s fourth-generation printing company (Corcoran Printing), Bill enjoys spending time with his wife Jess, watching Penn State Football, and indulging in some juicy IPAs or a bottle of fine wine.

#570Day: Initiative to Spread Positivity and Local Pride Set for May 7

#570Day: Initiative to Spread Positivity and Local Pride Set for May 7 900 900 #OnTheStacks

#570Day: Initiative to Spread Positivity and Local Pride Set for May 7

#570Day is a new online initiative born through the combined, creative efforts of the Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club, the Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visit Luzerne County.

The day aims to spread positivity, local pride and celebrate the people and places within the 570 area code.

Being a part of #570Day is easy! On May 7, 2021, they encourage people, businesses, schools, nonprofits and organizations across Northeast Pennsylvania to use #570Day on social media to show what they love about living in the area.

“Everyone can get involved and make #570Day their own. Businesses can offer deals or promote themselves using the hashtag, individuals can highlight their favorite outdoor recreation spots, nonprofits can share their organizational history,” said Christine Mackin Meluskey, President of the Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club.

“We want the community to be creative and have fun with using the hashtag – #570Day – on Friday, May 7th.”

Post pictures, videos and stories that highlight the natural beauty, businesses and people who make the 570 area so great.

From your Friday night pizza place, thanking a special teacher, highlighting your favorite park or sharing the best music venue…#570Day is the time to let the good in this area shine!

With so much in Northeastern PA and so many stories to tell, they hope this initiative will continue to grow as it’s celebrated yearly on May 7th.

We love getting behind a good local initiative, especially ones that have a hashtag in their name 😉

What will you do to celebrate?

The Biggest Mistake Businesses make on Social Media

The Biggest Mistake Businesses make on Social Media 2560 1709 #OnTheStacks

The biggest mistake businesses make on social media is not responding to comments.

When I click on a company’s Facebook or Instagram page and see comments on a post with no response from the business, it makes me cringe.

Today’s world is going more and more digital with less in person interaction (partially pandemic driven).

So now, more than ever, your business should be highly engaging on social media.

Social Media Comment Icon

When you don’t respond to a customer’s comment on social media, it is equivalent to a customer walking into your physical store, inquiring about a product and completely ignoring them.

Responding to comments drives engagement. Engagement builds community. Community drives traffic. Traffic drives sales.

Even if someone is not looking to purchase your product, but is just supporting your business with a thoughtful comment, thank them.

You’d be surprised at how far a simple, “thanks” will go.

Do yourself and your business a favor, and acknowledge your customers on social media.

If you don’t, your competition will.
