Paul Williams – Ep.134

Paul Williams – Ep.134 150 150 #OnTheStacks Podcast

Episode 134: #OnTheStacks in the blu door studio with Paul Williams, Co-Owner of Perfect Storm Renovations, Kitchen & Bath.

Paul is a US Air Force Veteran with grit. After returning home from the military, he had a hard time finding work. He was so determined to make it that he used to ride his bike over 25 miles to work everyday.

After finding success as a kitchen remodel salesperson at a national big box store, Paul and his lifelong friend, Jerome Sulkoski, thought if they partnered together to start their own renovation company, that they would be the “Perfect Storm.”

When they first started their business in 2019, they would do renovations nearly for free just so they could build a portfolio of testimonials and before and after photos. Their first year in business they did $1 million in sales. Now, their multi-million dollar business is Northeast Pennsylvania’s leading kitchen and bath remodeling company.

Watch on YouTube: Brandon Matthews – Ep.133 1280 720 #OnTheStacks Podcast

Episode 133: #OnTheStacks in the blu door studio with Professional Golfer, 🏌️‍♂️ Brandon Matthews. When he was 10 years old, he began to practice writing his signature because he believed one day he would become a professional athlete.

Three years ago, he was playing professionally, but was physically in pain almost everyday, in a bad place mentally, and golf wasn’t fun for the first time in his entire life. In his own words, his “horrible” 2019 was one of the greatest moments of his career. Hitting rock bottom tested his character and prepared him for what was about to happen next.

In June of this year, Brandon secured his first PGA TOUR card.

Stephanie Decker – Ep.131

Stephanie Decker – Ep.131 150 150 #OnTheStacks Podcast

Episode 131: #OnTheStacks in the blu door studio with Stephanie Decker, Associate Vice President of Social and Economic Impact at Lackawanna College.

Stephanie took over cooking duties for her family when she was just 10 years old after her mother became mentally ill and as her father was suffering from alcoholism.

She went on to study at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to become a Chef, worked for 20+ years in the restaurant industry, 10 of which she owned her own restaurant.

In 2010, her life and purpose intersected when she met a few executives from Lackawanna College that tasked her with starting the College’s School of Hospitality program. She built it from scratch with borrowed kitchens, Bunsen burners, and pots and pans out of the trunk of her car. The program now boasts 4 degrees and an 85 seat restaurant and bar at their main campus in Scranton, PA.

Now, as the College’s AVP of Social and Economic Impact, she uses her scrappy, make-it-happen mindset to help people live better lives through education, entrepreneurship, and community connection.

We also discuss a book that she is co-authoring along with Lackawanna College President Dr. Jill Murray, and Provost Dr. Erica Barone Pricci. The book, which hasn’t been published yet, focuses on the strategies these 3 leaders implemented over the last 10+ years to create a culture of innovation at the College, one of which landed the College on Fast Company’s prestigious list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies.

Watch on YouTube: Fred Aebli – Ep.130 1280 720 #OnTheStacks Podcast

Episode 130: #OnTheStacks in the blu door studio with Fred Aebli aka Mr. Fred, creator of GetMedCoding.com.

As a Star Wars ‘1977’ kid, he was propelled into thinking “how do I get to space?” After graduating from Penn State, he realized the only way to get there was via the Astronaut Corps, so he pursued a military commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Marines, traveled the globe pre-911, and was eventually promoted to Major.

When he returned home from active duty, he worked as a network engineer on early stage internet development for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), as a software developer for Oracle, and later became an IST professor at Penn State.

After seeing a growing decline in kids exploring coding and “tinkering” with tech, along with the growing demand for IT professionals, he came up with the idea of GetMeCoding.com to teach kids coding and show them how fantasy/sci-fi can be doorways to new opportunities.

Episode 127: #OnTheStacks in the blu door studio with former Wall Street Managing Director, Manny Santayana.

“Do the right thing and fear no man!” That is the mantra Manny lives by.

Despite almost getting fired from his first sales job at IBM, Manny went on to become a top salesperson at IBM and then for a firm on Wall Street. In 2002, he led an algorithmic electronic trading team at Credit Suisse, where he increased the sales from $2.5 million to $1 billion+ across 47 countries. They ranked #1 in the world and executed 9% of the total US trading volume.

Later in his career, he became Head of Sales at NASDAQ, and is responsible for rebuilding the entire NASDAQ sales force after their global trading clients were adversely affected by the Facebook IPO technical trading disaster in 2012. Throughout his life and career, Manny has seen it all, experiencing extreme highs and lows, and what he calls the 4 C’s of Sociology: Cooperation, Competition, Conflict, and Corruption. Manny explains how he navigated these phases and the greatest lessons that Wall Street taught him about life.

Max got a taste of entrepreneurship and blue collar work at age 12 when he started working at a junkyard, buying and selling scrap metal, cars, and trucks. He fell in love with the idea of earning a dollar by building something and selling it, instead of punching a clock for a paycheck.

His many business ventures, including his boutique cigar company based in the Dominican Republic, have given him the opportunity to travel the world and gain perspective by seeing how other cultures live and place value on success, money, and time.

Mike Thorwart – Ep.125 150 150 #OnTheStacks Podcast

Episode 125: #OnTheStacks in the blu door studio with Mike Thorwart, co-owner of Dead Sled Coffee. He’s addicted to the hustle of business. Five years ago, Mike designed a website for free to help his two friends that were starting a coffee company. He’s now co-owner and runs the company full time.

To celebrate the ownership’s love of horror films and rock ‘n’ roll, they sought out to partner with various artists to formulate their own proprietary blend of coffee and participate in designing the artwork on the packaging. They landed several officially licensed deals with classic horror films such as, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Vampira, Beetlejuice, and It. On the Rock ‘n’ Roll side of things, they’ve partnered with KISS, Skid Row, Rob Zombie, and Dee Snider from Twisted Sister, to name a few.

Hear how they did it in this spooky and energizing episode!

BONUS – Mike makes a major announcement in this episode regarding a new and exclusive collaboration with Warner Bros., and we’ll give you a hint….Winter is Coming!

Watch on YouTube: Jamie Anzalone – Ep.123 1280 720 #OnTheStacks Podcast

Episode 123: #OnTheStacks in the blu door studio with Jamie Anzalone, Personal Injury Attorney and Partner at Anzalone Law. At 5 years old, Jamie knew he wanted to follow in father’s footsteps as a plaintiff’s trial lawyer after seeing him take great pride and joy in his daily work.

During law school Jamie started playing guitar and singing at open mic nights as a hobby. Through creative writing and playing music, he was able to build confidence that now enables him to excel at the highest level in the courtroom. Jamie learned that in both law and life, nothing is as it seems and nothing is black and white, and only by following the process can you get where you need to go.

Anzalone’s mission is to fight for people that can’t fight for themselves, and while many perceive personal injury attorneys in a negative light, this episode may leave you thinking differently after host Bill Corcoran Jr. challenges Jamie on those negative thoughts and misconceptions.

#OnTheStacks Host Bill Corcoran Jr. Featured on The Daily Creator Podcast

#OnTheStacks Podcast Host Bill Corcoran Jr. was recently featured as a guest on The Daily Creator Podcast with Eric Farber.

It’s hard to think of an original idea and even harder to sustained it over time.

“On The Stacks Podcast” is an example of a successful brand based on the Creator Economy.

The idea began as a goofy way of self-promotion in social media by its host Bill Corcoran Jr. But there’s so much more to this story.

Bill is part of a family business called Corcoran Printing in Pennsylvania. Its name might sound familiar thanks to the mention in a popular series known as “The Office”.

Bill became known in his hometown posting a series of photos of him on top of different types of paper stacks with funny captions. For a year people asked him to replicate this type of scene to post on their Instagram with similar marketing purposes as he once did.

Over time, the idea evolved into a podcast where people could tell stories and share their experiences without a filter, an organic conversation between passionate business owners, entrepreneurs, and community leaders in the region.

Listen to Eric Farber discuss how Bill’s idea became one of the 2% most listen globally podcast. Here’s how Bill Corcoran built “On The Stacks”.

Dave Yeager – Ep.118

Dave Yeager – Ep.118 150 150 #OnTheStacks Podcast

Episode 118: #OnTheStacks in the blu door studio with Dave Yeager, Founder and CEO of Showcase Daily. At 23 years old, with a couple hundred dollars to his name, Dave threw all of his belongings into his van and drove across the country to California to follow his dream of working in the music industry. When he arrived, he was homeless. He was so determined to make it, that until he got a job and saved up enough money to rent an apartment, he slept in his van and snuck into movie theaters and survived on free refills of popcorn and soda that others left behind.

After a few years of working for ET on MTV, he landed a job in the music industry. Working alongside two industry legends, Co-Founder of Interscope Records, Jimmy Iovine, and Rapper/Producer Dr. Dre, Dave helped develop and build Beats Music, which was eventually acquired by Apple for $3 billion in 2014 and became what we now know as Apple Music.

Burnt out after working in the corporate world, he decided to create his own music streaming platform, Showcase Daily. It is a platform for emerging talent that introduces one new artist and one new track everyday with a focus on promoting quality over quantity. The app is currently in the alpha testing phase with hopes of rolling it out to the public in Fall 2022.

570 day

2nd Annual #570Day Highlights NEPA on May 7

2nd Annual #570Day Highlights NEPA on May 7 800 600 #OnTheStacks Podcast

2nd Annual #570Day Highlights NEPA on May 7

570 DayFrom Press Release:

Northeast Pennsylvania packs a whole lot into one corner of the state. Last year’s inaugural #570Day was proof as residents, businesses and organizations spent the day flooding social media with photos and videos of some of the best people and places in the region.

#570Day is back again this year! On Saturday, May 7, 2022, event organizers are encouraging everyone across Northeast PA to celebrate local pride by using #570Day on social media to share what they love about the 570 area.

570 Day

Highlight your favorite park, shout out your Friday night pizza spot, thank a special teacher or show off a local product.

#570Day, held yearly on May 7th, is a chance to let the good in our area shine.

In honor of the 2nd annual #570Day, organizers are taking it to the next level and going beyond the post.

That means while everyone is sharing on social media, they’re also asking businesses, organization and individuals to put the 570 love into action.

The idea is to not only share what you love about the area, but to also get out and experience it.

Here are some examples of how to patriciate:

  • Offer a #570Day deal or special offer to promote your business
  • Organize a #570Day community cleanup
  • Hop on a trail for a #570Day hike
  • Grab dinner at your favorite 570 eatery
  • Put a spin on your specialty…create $570Day treats, host a #570Day yoga class or sponsor a #570Day dinner

#570Day began in 2021 as an online initiative born through the combined, creative efforts of the Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club, the Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visit Luzerne County.

The day aims to spread positivity, local pride, and celebrate the people and places within the 570 area code.

With so much in Northeastern PA and so many stories to tell, they hope this movement will continue to grow as it’s celebrated yearly on May 7th.

What will you do to celebrate?

Connect with #570Day on Instagram and Facebook.

NFTs, Explained

Nft Explained

Like a lot of people, you might be wondering, what the hell is an NFT?

What does NFT stand for?

NFT stands for Non-fungible token. Non-fungible means that it’s unique and can’t be replicated.

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unique digital asset that represents ownership of real world items such as music, art, podcasts, tweets, and more.

NFTs, given their unique set of properties, aren’t worth the same as other similar tokens.

They exist on a blockchain; a digitally distributed, decentralized, public ledger that facilitates the process of recording transactions and tracking assets across a network.

Rapper Snoop Dogg is taking his record label into the Metaverse by converting Death Row Records into the first NFT music label.

Photo by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Roc Nation

Snoop who recently acquired Death Row Records, wants to be the first “Major label in the Metaverse.”

Snoop released his latest album – BODR (Bacc on Death Row) – as an NFT through blockchain gaming platform, Gala Games.

Limited to 25,000, each ‘box’ includes 1 of 17 songs as an NFT, as well as three exclusive bonus tracks.

The NFTs offer both physical and digital rewards, including VIP access to exclusive concerts, parties at Snoop’s mansion, and more.

At $5,000 a pop, Snoop stands to earn a cool $125,000,000.

At this time, over 10,000 boxes were sold.

This NFT sale creates an interesting debate about where artists will earn their most money in the future: live, recorded music, and web3.

So what do NFTs mean for musicians, artists, content creators, and others?

NFTs are cutting out the middle man.

This blockchain technology has the power to change the game in favor of artists and fans.

But don’t get discouraged, anyone can create their own NFT, and you don’t need to be a mainstream artist.

Interested in learning more? Listen to our latest #OnTheStacks Podcast episode with Connor Scalleat.

Connor give a breakdown of NFTs, blockchain technology, web3, and explains the value of NFTs and how they are going to change the future of how we communicate with one another, buy and sell goods/services, and transmit information.

*NFTs are highly speculative and you should never buy NFTs with money you can’t afford. Do your own research, invest wisely, and make sure it’s money you can afford to lose.
